Credits
How the credit system works — what credits are, how they're spent, and what happens when they run out.
Credits are how Smoketest measures compute usage. Every run consumes credits based on how long the AI agent runs.
How credits work
1 credit = 10 minutes of agent runtime.
Credits are charged in 10-minute blocks:
| Runtime | Credits consumed |
|---|---|
| 0–10 minutes | 1 credit |
| 10–20 minutes | 2 credits |
| 20–30 minutes | 3 credits |
| … | … |
| 50–60 minutes | 6 credits |
There is a 60-minute hard cap per run — if the agent hasn't finished by then, the run is terminated and marked as failed.
Runs that are cancelled or aborted before the agent starts (i.e. while still queued) do not consume any credits. Once the browser session opens, credits begin accumulating.
For a ticket-generated Test, the Attempt consumes its original credit when execution starts. One automatically classified infrastructure retry may reuse the same frozen Test within that Attempt without another charge. A Failed Result still uses the original credit because the browser completed testing and proved a defect.
Your plan
| Details | |
|---|---|
| Monthly plan | $29/month — includes 300 credits, renews each billing cycle |
| Annual plan | $23/month (−20%) — same 300 credits/month |
| Free trial | 14 days, 50 credits — no credit card required |
| Unused credits | Subscription credits do not roll over to the next billing cycle |
Bonus credits
The dashboard start guide can award up to 15 bonus credits per workspace for setup milestones such as creating a first test, running a first test, connecting automation, and applying Agent Skill-generated test drafts.
Bonus credits are awarded automatically after Smoketest detects the milestone. Each checklist step can award credits once per workspace, even if you switch projects.
For active trials, bonus credits are added to the trial balance. For active paid workspaces, they are added to the subscription balance.
Boost packs
If you run out of credits before your cycle renews, you can purchase a one-time boost pack:
| Pack | Credits | Price | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small | 100 | $13 | 12 months |
| Medium | 500 | $49 | 12 months |
| Large | 2,000 | $179 | 12 months |
| XL | 10,000 | $799 | 12 months |
Boost pack credits are consumed before your subscription credits. They expire 12 months from purchase.
What happens when credits run out
- Ticket work remains visible in the Board without creating ticket comments. When credits return, Smoketest revalidates the ticket, Connection, and Test Source, then resumes eligible Attempts automatically.
- Manually triggered runs are blocked immediately — you can purchase a boost pack and retry
- Scheduled runs are skipped for that interval and resume at the next scheduled time once credits are available
- The workspace owner receives one email when scheduled runs first pause, and the dashboard shows a warning until credits are restored
Skipped reusable-Test schedule occurrences don't retry retroactively. Repeated blocked Tests are grouped into one alert rather than sending an email for every Test. Ticket-generated work is different: its queued Attempt remains and resumes automatically after revalidation.
Checking your balance
Your current credit balance is shown in workspace settings under Billing. You can purchase boost packs there as well.
